Hello everyone. As we all know, Christmas is coming and after MCT my son will be headed to 29 Palms. I did a bit of research and I do know that he is not allowed to wear sunglasses while in uniform. However, he will have liberty or leave days and let's face it, it is the desert so my question is this: I would like to get him a pair for Christmas but would like to know if there are guidelines for what they can and cannot wear even out of uniform. New fleet Marine

I have a question about "housing/ marriage" for a new fleet marine. My son is about to graduate from SOI, and he has been saying that he wants to marry his girlfriend over Christmas. Are new Marines allowed housing? Can they live off-base? Are there any provisions for a new wife? And if there is any other info that i forgot to ask the question, feel free to add that. His father and I don't think it is a good idea for him to marry right now...and i am just looking for more info...

I just finished watching the presidential address about Afghanistan...correct me if I'm wrong, but by setting a timeline for a troop surge and then an end date of sorts...did he not just put our whole Military at risk? As far as i can see many OsPec points were violated in that speech.

Navy Federal & Check In at MCT

1. Is the Navy Federal Credit Union close to Camp Geiger?
2. Is there usually a long line waiting at the gate to check-in on the day we bring our Marine to MCT. (Tomorrow Dec. 1)
3. Would we need to be there at least 1 hour early?

What can my son bring to SOI?

We leave Monday morning to take our son to Camp Geiger, so my son was packing today. He knows to bring everything that he was issued. But, can he bring all of the bags, too? The body bag, 2 (two) sea bags, ditty bag and carry on bag (don't know the name). Also, is he allowed to bring contact lenses or his own glasses to wear when he has liberty?

Transportation to Wilmington Airport

I am trying to arrange a flight home (from CLJ) for my son. I have noticed that flying out of Wilmington is substantially less expensive than Jacksonville, NC. Does CLJ have transportation available for the Marine to get to Wilmington? If so, any idea on the cost?

I have kind of a detailed request. My son graduated PI with Fox Co 2077 after being set back with an injury while with his 1st Platoon in Hotel Co 2062. Because they had their individual photos taken while he was with Hotel Co, I have his entire Platoon photo (the entire individual photos in the dress blues) for Hotel 2062. He graduated Fox Company 2077 and I would really like to have that same picture - everyone he graduated with individually in their dress blues. I have...

I recently read a snippet somewhere that said we should no longer send things that our Marines can give directly to the civilians in Afghanistan, for instance beanie babies for the children. Where can I get an approved items list?

anybody know the best way to get a spot out of the khaki tie?? Son is on RA and he wore tie this morning and has to wear it again tomorrow. Has a small whiteish spot on the bottom of it. Anybody tried tide pens on them??

Ft Sill - MOS packing list

Would anyone know where to get a packing list for Ft Sill? My son is graduating MCT on Tuesday and is going to Ft Sill for his MOS training but said he didn't know what he needed to bring. Since it is an Army base, he didn't think the PX would have what he may need - that is anything Marine related. He is the only one going from his MCT platoon so he is on his own.

I am starting to get some trinkets and stocking stuffers for Christmas. I don't know for sure, of course, if and when he will deploy, but as an 0311, I assume that he will at some point, after he graduates ITB this week. I have some questions for all you experienced folks out there:

1. how much stuff is he allowed to take with him when he goes?
2. what are some good stocking stuffers that I could give him in preparation? I just ordered Monkey Butt foot powder, chicken...

I have a question abouto mp school at camp lenerdwood. when the marines are there do they got to use their phones on a more regular basis then at mct?? and would i be allowd to visit?? not often obviously because i know he has to focus on his training but if i wanted to visit once i was just wondering?? also do they get liberty every weekend and can they leave the base during their liberty.

I didn't know where to put this, but I wanted to know if anyone knows about the MECEP timeline?

My hubby put his MECEP package in and last tuesday(Oct. 27th) the board met up at Headquarters in Quantico. In the MARADMIN it says they meet for 2 weeks, but him/me are curious as to when they announce who got accepted into the program?? We are waiting and patiently awaiting for good news!!!

If anyone has any infor it would be greatly appreciated! I tried searching but had...

How Do I Change The Time Zone on Yuku?

Click the Navigation button at the top right corner of the page,
Click Settings,
Click Time Zone,
Then from the selection, choose the one for your time zone....example: since I live in the Eastern Time Zone mine is (GMT -5 hrs) for Standard Time and (GMT -4 hrs) for Daylight Saving Time
Click Submit
