Military Stand-by flights

Is there any such thing anymore as Military Stand-By flights? Reason I'm asking is because my son is flying home at Thanksgiving. Round trip from Jacksonville, NC to Jacksonville, FLA is costing him $505.00. Thats alot of money. I know the fare is high due to the Holiday, but I am trying to figure out a cheaper way than him taking a bus for 14 hours.......

I was just watching the Today Show and they were talking about how the flight search web pages put a little file on your computer (called a cookie), so when you go back again and search for that same flight again, they know it is you and that you REALLY want that flight, so they can probably show you a higher price than you saw the day before and you will still pay it. They recommended following the instructions for your web browser and clearing your cookies before searching for a flights...

My Marine and a few other flew out of Boston this morning...as of 5:20 tonight they were still at the airport in Jacksonville, NC awaiting the arrival of their bags. My question is there a USO office nearby that can help these new Marines out or are they on their own? They have been at the airport all day, i wonder why noone has helped them yet???

My son is at New River for his MOS right now and is looking for a ride home for the Columbus Day holiday weekend. If anyone knows of a Marine from Camp Lejeune, Camp Johnson or New River who has plans to go to Baltimore, Philly, Harrisburg or Lancaster or anywhere near any of those places please let me know. He gets off a noon on Friday and has to be back by 4 on Monday. He will gladly pay for gas, tolls, ect. Unfortunately, the airfares are too expensive. Thanks!

So my boyfriend has been at MCT for a couple of weeks now but before he turned his phone in he said something about being able to visit him when he goes to MOS at 29 Palms. How soon will I be able to fly out and see him? Are there hotels on base or will I have to get a one somewhere else? Will he even be allowed off base? Also, what is the best airline company to get a ticket from? I've never traveled alone or even been on a plane before so I'm a little nervous. All advice is...

I just stayed in a beautiful daylight basement in-law suite half-way between the San Diego Airport & Camp Pendleton in Del Mar while visiting my son at Camp Pendleton. I couldn't get over how wonderful the place was and promised the homeowner I'd brag about it to all my friends so here goes:

Sooo I'm trying to fly out for MCT graduation and flying southwest airlines is wayyy cheaper than anyone else but I think it says the closest airport is in raleigh/durham nc..? Does anybody know about how far that is from geiger or if southwest flies anywhere closer? I'm a little new at this whole flying thing so any help would be great! thanks!

Hi all!! I'm hoping to fly out to visit the DF on Memorial Weekend, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap place to stay? I know Parris Island has those really cheap hotels on base...wondering if there is something similar in Pendleton, or perhaps an organizations that can help me? Specifically for us military folk? Ride for Marine to STL from FLW

Just wondering.... My Marine Son graduates MP school on May 20th early in the am. He will have to catch a flight home to Pa from St. Louis. We know that he can take a cab to the airport... but this will be very expensive... Does anyone else have a Marine graduating that might be going to STL? Jeff would gladly pay for gas! Any ideas would be appreciated!

We cannot make the trip unfortunately!

USO rooms at the airports!

I just took my daughter to her flight to MCT, and as she had to check in at the airport 2 hours prior to departure, I steered her to the USO suite at that terminal... Come to find out thqat there are multiple suites at most every airport!

I had heard about the USO orginization for military travelers before, but never paid much attention to it. Here is what I learned:

We took an elevator down to the USO suite from right near her departure gate- so there would be no delay...

My sister and her husband are supposed to be flying home for his pre-d leave. He is army and they gave them the dates already but they are always changing the dates on them.
She is afraid to buy the tickets just yet because if they change the date then they lose their tickets, but she doesn't want to wait until the last minute because prices would go up.
There's a $150 fee to make it so that you can change the dates on the tickets though.

Marine needs ride from CLJ to RDU

We're trying to find a ride for my son from Camp Lejeune to RDU on April 10th - I checked the airporter service but the schedule will not match the flight time he has. We had to change flights out for him because he is unable to leave CLJ until after 12pm on Friday the 10th and his flight is scheduled to depart at 3:25pm - If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it -

Help! Travel advice needed on NC to California

Anyone out there that can offer me any advice? My daughter is at Lejeune and just told me she has a 96 for Easter but cannot tell me specific times yet. We live in California and it doesn't look like she'll be able to get a flight the same day she's dismissed, so basically it means she'd be at home for less than 48 hours, and the ticket is around $800 (that's the price today!). Is it true that she cannot request additional days' leave to add on to a 96? Does anyone...
