Hi, I just found out this morning that my grandson is going to 29 Palms on Tuesday, after graduation from MCT, for Ground Electronics Maintenance. Does anyone know what the number for that school is? Do any of you have anyone in that same field? I'm curious how long the school will be, he was told originally that his school would be about a year. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Very proud Grandma of T.J.

Annie - 29 Palms is in the Mojave Desert. Look around in this forum and you can find out a lot about it...and yes they get weekends off. After a couple of
weeks they can leave the base on weekends...there is a restriction on how far they can travel I'm not sure what that is (couple hundred miles probably)
They are about 1/2 between Vegas and LA.

Annie - my son is 2844...he arrived at 29 Palms in early September 2008 - and finished up in early April 2009. He only waited about 2 weeks for his class to
pick up...so about 7 months of MOS school.....he got lucky picking up quickly so I think 8 moths is probably a good guesstimate......

easier to keep clean when there are only two instead of 4 or 5 of them in a room....and easier to study. (because they have lots of tests they need to keep
