Mike will be stationed in Beaufort next month. I plan on visiting him, but I would like to know what there is to do there, and a good hotel, at a resonable price. Would I be able to stay at the hotel on base, because I am a girlfriend? I know the area some what because we were in Beaufort when he graduated boot...but we didnt go around the town. Thanks :)

yeah, finally someone from Beaufort! LOL
There is a TLF on the air station called the De'Treville House. You can stay there, but you cannot make the reservations, your boyfriend would have to make the reservations. It's around 50$ a night, and recently renovated. What unit is he with? I am the KV Coordinator for VMFA-115, and we have friends in 251, 332, 533 and with MALS-31. KV's are family readiness liasons. We are the liasons between the command and the spouses (and their kids). We plan events for the familes throughout the year, and provide a referrel and reference service. If a spouse loses her ID, she can come to us and get a new one. If her car breaks down, we can refer her to a place out in town that won't screw her just because she's a Marine wife with a deployed husband.
KV Coordinators are kinda like being the PTA president.....lol...we are the "head" of the KV's. Lori Proud Wife and Sister to 2 of the few - Sgt Matt & Sgt Matthew! Email me anytime: smileybaby101@yahoo.com or visit my Tupperware website

Our son--Lcpl. Christopher and his girlfriend just stayed 5 days at the TLF and loved it. He said its very nice and clean also. They found the Tanger outlets somewhere close by....Hilton Head...maybe?? and did a lot of shopping at really great prices. I think he said it was $60.00 a night...but also said it was nicer than any hotel.
Hope this helps a bit. Patty VPM of Lcpl. Christopher |

Wow Lori, you handle a lot! All that you do and a mom to boot. With all of that you still manage to do a great job with the boards. My son became engaged at Christmas (well, the 26th when he managed to get home). His fiance is coming down to see him next weekend to finally celebrate a few days together. It's seems like such a long time since we were there to see him graduate but it was only last April. What a lot we have had to celebrate in the last year. Thanks for the support of everyone on the board. Especially you Lori.

Tanger Outlets are in Hilton Head (well technically Bluffton, the lil town just before the actual island).....we go down there alot to shop - especially at Target!

My son, Brett, just checked into 251 this week. He's in airframes and assigned to corrosion control. We might come down to visit the last week of March when we're off from school for Easter break. We'll keep the TLF in mind when we're looking for a place to stay.

Another 251'r. My husband's best friend and another good friend are both with 251. One in CommNav, another in air frames.

Re: MCAS Beaufort | ||

MALS 31 - onthe largest squadrons on base, with over 1000 Marines. They support all squadrons. Each squadron that deploys has a contigent of Marines from MALS with them - for example - my husband is deployed with 115, and they have around 20 or so Marines from MALS with them.

Re: MCAS Beaufort | ||

Well, I can say 122 is currently deployed right now.
If he checked into the MAG (where they check in before checking into the squadron) then they'll probably send him to another squadron. They will not send him to meet his squadron. That happened to my husband. We had orders to 332 (thus the 332 in my screenname) - but instead he was sent to 115 because 332 was deployed when he came to check in. 122 shares a hanger with 115 (our squadron!). Not alot to say about them - they are an F-18 squadron - normally do "West Pac" deployments, to Japan, Guam and that area. They are on one right now. Not really alot to tell about any of the F-18 squadrons here.....lol. =) Lori Proud Wife to SSgt Matt & Sis to Sgt Matthew! Thanks Lori. Just curious. Not alot of talking going on on the Beaufort board. I did see on Beaufort's web site that the 122 was deployed for 6 months and then would be getting ready for another one soon. Thanks again...

Re: MCAS Beaufort | ||

Looks like you were right Lori. My son arrived at Beaufort last night and reported this morning. He was assigned to the 122 but they put him in the 332.
It is kind of funny, the day of his graduation at PI he had gone to the Barber Shop to get a hair cut before heading home and the entire family went with him. There were 2 young Marines from the Air Station waiting on hair cuts as well. They struck up a conversation and they told him they were air crew over at Beaufort - maybe they would cross paths again. Well, they have. Turns out one of the is the Cpl that he will be working under. Small world... Kim VPMM of PFC Ronald (Allen) |
