Hi everyone, I was just wondering if there are any members of the Patriot Guard Riders out there. I just joined the group after some friends of mine told me
about it. It's a group of motorcyclist who attend funerals of those killed in action and keep any war protesters from getting too close to the mourners.
Can you even believe such people exist who would have the audacity to protest a funeral? It sickens me to even think about it! I was at a funeral for marine
killed in action in 2006 and I saw the bikers who showed up. They conducted themselves with such reverance and respect and it really was a site to behold. I
did not know it then but they were Patriot Guard Riders. I do have a motorcycle license but I do not have a bike right now. There are people who ride "in
the cage" (car) and bring water and supplies for the bikers. I think that's what I will end up doing for now until I get another bike. Has anyone here
participated in this? I would love to hear about your experience with this group.

Cynthia, we had a funeral here in our county last month of an Army Sgt. that was killed in Iraq. The Patriot Guard was there to prevent any
"protesters" from getting in the way. Thankfully no protesters showed up, as it had been rumored. They are a VERY HONORABLE group.
I don't know what state you are in, most have their own groups, I don know that LadyBikerrMom is a member you might try inboxing her to get more info!! PatriotBarb Barb

We are members. (Intruder 1400 & 800)
Here's their mission statment: Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America's freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us. We don't care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you're a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you're from or what your income is; you don't even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect. Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives. 1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities. 2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors. We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means. http://www.patriotguard.org/ Rachel

Hi Everyone! I'm a 'cagey' member of PGR.
I have a tendency to be injury prone so I don't ride a bike. Always wanted to, but I also knew better. I haven't hurt myself in 2 days. That could be a record for me. When I referee ice hockey games my body has a magnet that attracts pucks. It worked well when I played as a goalie but when you're supposed to be out of the way of play.... We have an 'incident' going on right now here in Massachusetts, (What else is new?). There's this guy that ran for the school committee and won in Lowell. On his campaign pamphlets he claimed to have served 20 years in the Corps and was highly decorated. He never served a day. And he's refusing to step down from the school committee. They can't have a recall petition until he has served a year. Unfortunately, he was turned in by his son. A true Marine Corps Veteran. The PGR was up there yesterday to protest this phony. If you go to the local Fox Channel, http://www.myfoxboston.com/myfox/ they have a news clip of the PGR playing the National Anthem while standing at attention to draw attention to this situation. In the news clip it is not mentioned that the guys are PGR but I know the ones shown are Corps Veterans.

I'm so proud to know you all! I think the PGR is an awesome group of people and I thank you all for shielding families from people who would disrupt
funerals and disrepect our fallen out of such misguided ideas.
I was in VT the past few days and the school board member story was all over up there. I'm not sure how people think they can lie like that and get away with it...especially when they claim to have earned a purple heart! ![]() Odette

Update on that school committee creep... He was arrested yesterday by the FBI. For falsifying military records.
May he get what he deserves...

My cousin Randy was killed in a motorcycle accident many years ago and at that time I decided to never ride again. Well, I heard about the PGR a few years
ago and was so proud of all of them and I found myself wishing I could do this. Then I realized that Randy has probably been mad at me all the years sitting up
in heaven watching me not ride (he lived to ride as they say). I decided that one of these days I would get a trike but we are just not able to afford one
right now. Is it true as Cynthia says that there are others that don't have bikes can join also? One of my plans is to get back down to the size I was in
the Army so I can be at funerals for flag detail etc but still have a ways to go (I'm about 1/3 of the way there WOOHOO). But it would be great to do the
PGR also. I am going to check with the website a find a group in Georgia. I have several friends who ride that would be interested also.

So ... cynthia66 ... Welcome to the PGR! Have you had a chance to browse around the PGR web site yet? The most important thing, of course, is getting
yourself to any Missions that are nearby ... so don't hesitate to ask one of us privately via email, or post a question right on the web site if you have
any trouble figuring out "the system." Don't be anxious about showing up, either ... you are most welcome to join us.
As was said in an earlier post, it's a shame we have to exist ... but we do. And my own driving sentiment (shared by every PGR Member I've spoken to) is that I will not be sitting around doing nothing while the insane among us torment those who mourn heroes! Thank you for joining us. It's important. Take care, Joe |
