Got a quick text from my friend who just reported in yesterday to Camp Geiger. He sent a lovely picture of the sunset from his rack :) and let us all know he has been assigned to Fox Company 2nd Platoon. Anyone else hear from their Marines - former recruits of Mike Co Parris Island? My nephew is in India Co and is graduating next week. He was formerly with Delta Co at PI

That should be Fox Co, 2nd Platoon, not 2nd BN! All folks at MCT are in the same Battalion (BN) - it's called MCT Battalion!

We have a Mike Company, PI graduate.We only know so far that our son made it there and checked in, but have not heard if he actually got picked up or not....Hope he was lucky enough to get picked up today!

Keeping our fingers crossed!Looks like the next Company is not for another 2 more weeks........

My boyfriend left for MCT yesterday. He called me this morning, only because he missed a connection flight Monday night and had to spend the night in the airport. But he said that he got to North Carolina alright and was heading over to the base and said that he might be able to call on Sundays. But is there a chance he might not get picked up and be there longer than a month?

Our son texted us at 5:15pm and said that he was picked up and turning in cell phone.
So glad he gets to start MCT and will not have to wait!

Williesmom - we got the text this afternoon too. Glad they are getting picked up by the new Platoons quickly. I better watch my typos..:) Anyways, I wish everyones new Marines the best of luck as they go through this training.

I still have not heard from my boyfriend since he was at the airport this morning neither has his mother. Does that mean that he most likely got picked up, he had a cell phone but it died at the airport. Is there anyway I could find out if he is going to be in fox company?

If you haven't heard from your Marine yet, I would guess they have been picked up. When they aren't picked up, they are put in Camp Guard platoon and are allowed to keep and use their phones.

My Husband is from Mike Co. He checked in Tuesday and I got a text around 5pm saying that they were taking his phone. Which stinks because I had really been looking forward to talking to him. But from what I gather in this thread that's a good thing. We are expecting our second child at the end of July so he needs to make it through MCT!!! He promised to call me Sunday, do they get liberty on Sundays? And does anyone know if I am able to send him stuff? I apologize if like a kabillion people have already asked these questions. This is my first post here and I am typing with a two year old in my lap. lol.

SOMETIMES they get to call on Sundays, but many times they don't get to call. It's up to the instructors to decide! If there were behavior or testing problems, then phone calls can be taken away from the entire group. Just keep that in mind and don't get your hopes up too high!

You can send him things, but remember that everything has to fit into his luggage to go to MOS school. They don't have a lot of room! They are out in the field for a good portion of MCT, and sometimes mail delivery isn't regular, so I personally wouldn't send anything that would spoil just in case delivery isn't prompt.

Wonderfull Morning!!! At 7:24am I got a call from my son. I was sound a sleep. He had to say "do you know who this is" then I jumped up and said CHRIS.
Said his cell phone was taken away, was using his friends, would get his back later on today, he was picked up and has started classes, will be going out thrusday in the field. He said he would call me back later today..He really just wanted to make sure I sent his girlfriend the flowers he asked me todo for him....
The is the best Memorial Day ever!!! Who cares if they say is going to rain all day!! No rain on my Memorial Day...just a warm and sunny feeling in my heart.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone!!!!

i didnt recieve a phone call this week either. im hoping for one next week. He told me on tuesday that he would try and call on sunday but not luck. i hope at all is well. happy memorial day everyone.

Debbie I'm so glad Chris got to call you today. We did not hear from Kyle. We were at my brother-in-laws and I had no phone service so I hope he didn't try to call and not reach us. I tried to call his cell phone but it went to voicemail. I spoke with a guy Kyle went to high school with yesterday he is a Marine and is stationed at Camp Lejeune he said Kyle probably will not call until closer to graduation. Well back to counting down days again 21 days until Liberty and we get to see our Marine.

Oops sorry I guess typing the last name is out of habit I have made the edit.

I received a call from our son today it only lasted about 15 seconds but it was great to hear his voice. He said he will call Sunday if they don't get into trouble again. He called from the phone on base not his cell phone so make sure you answer the phone it will be an 828 area code. I hope everyone else will receive a call today I know it will make your week.
